The Madrid composer David del Puerto has won the Spanish National Music Prize 2005 for composition. The prize, which is worth 30,000 euros, is conceded annually by the Spanish Ministry of Culture.
According to José Antonio Campos, president of the jury, the prize went to Del Puerto for “his solid career and the quality of his music, in the national and international realm, and for the premieres of his compositions Advenit, Nigredo and, especially, of his first symphony, Boreas.
Currently, David del Puerto is working on a concerto for oboe and chamber ensemble, a commission from CDMC for the Nieuw Ensemble of Amsterdam, to premiere next year.
