Jesús Torres premieres music for public child with Cuentos de Andersen

This coming Sunday, 7 May, the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid hosts the premiere of the first work by Jesús Torres for children. Cuentos de Andersen is a selection of stories put to music by Torres, including “La abuela” and “El ángel”. The performance features a narrator, Iñaki Alberdi on accordion, and the Trio Arbós (violin, cello and piano).

Agustí Charles premiers Primary Colors

agustin charlesOn the occasion of the opening of the Kasimir Malevich exhibition, Agustín Charles premieres his latest composition on Monday 20 March in the auditorium of La Pedrera in Barcelona. Primary Colors was written for three female voices and four percussionists, on commission from Obra Social de Caixa Catalunya, the organizer of the exhibition. The concert features the group Drumming, led by Miquel Bernat. There will be a repeat performance on 27 March, at the same place and with the same players.

Xavier Benguerel premieres Palau d’hivern at La Pedrera

benguerelThis 22 February at the auditorium of La Pedrera in Barcelona the composer Xavier Benguerel premieres his latest work Palau d’hivern, four poems for soprano, clarinet and string quartet based on texts by Àlex Susanna. The piece, which is roughly fifteen minutes long, will be performed by the Quartet Glinka with Josep Fuster (clarinet) and Mónica Luezas (soprano). The programme also includes the version for reciter plus ten instruments of Benguerel’s 7 Faules de La Fontaine, performed by Joan Borràs (reciter) and members of the Orquestra Julià Carbonell de les Terres de Lleida.

Xavier Benguerel will be celebrating his 75th birthday throughout the year 2006.

David del Puerto at the Alicante International Contemporary Music Festival

On the first of October, the 20th Alicante International Contemporary Music Festival presented the play Comedia (moments from “La vida es sueño” by Calderón de la Barca), with music by David del Puerto.

Meanwhile, in September David del Puerto’s two works for piano Alio modo and Rejoice were performed by Alberto Rosado in Chile.

Cadaqués Orchestra Tour

The Cadaqués Orchestra will be going on tour in January 2004. Under the baton of Sir Neville Marriner, the Orchestra will perform in several Spanish cities, including Zaragoza and Pamplona.

The featured soloist on this occasion will be the soprano Ainhoa Arteta, in addition to the Orchestra’s habitual soloists. The tour comprises two programmes, centring on the works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
